John Hinde was a British photographer and businessman, best known for his brightly colored and highly stylized postcard images of Ireland. He began his career as a photographer in the 1940s and went on to establish John Hinde Ltd, a company that produced and sold postcards, photographs and other souvenirs featuring his work. Many of Hinde’s images were taken in the Wicklow Mountains of Ireland, and they often featured picturesque landscapes, charming cottages, and friendly locals. His postcards were particularly popular in the 1950s and 1960s, and they continue to be sought after by collectors today. Hinde passed away in 1997.
